Dissapointed with the Go Live 1000,
This review is from: TomTom GO LIVE 1000 4.3" Sat Nav with Europe Maps (45 Countries) (Electronics)
I bought this Tomtom and for a week it work great. Then I did the updates on it and lost all the speed camera data.
Spoke to Tomtom support and they were aware of the problem, but as to date have no fix for it. My advice is if you buy any of the Tomtom Live series, is not to do any updates till the software problems have been resolved. Its now been a month and I'm still waiting for a software fix. Its worth reading the Tomtom forum if you're thinking of buying one, that will help you reach a decision.

I bought the 1005 Live back at release and had a similar problem to yours- all the speed camera locations, and with them the warning system, just vanished. I talked to TomTom and and they suggested a soft reset, ie turn the device off and on (obvious stuff that I had already tried). They also suggested I 'Reset factory settings'. This option can be found in the 'Settings' menu. While I was reluctant to do so as I would lose all favourites and personalised settings, I did it, and it worked a treat. Give it a go, and good luck!

Thanks for your reply. I've already tried the factory reset, but no joy. As the speed cameras are important I took out a subscription with "Pocket GPS World" a third party speed camera site, which I find a lot better and more accurate than Tomtoms speed cameras. There are a lot of people who have the same problem as me, that are still waiting for a fix.

I have just bought the 1005 (20-Sep-11) despite reading loads of negative reviews and it seems excellent. Maybe the software has been updated or the other reviews had poor PCs. The one lesson I would advise is that you need to hold the one switch down for around 5 secs before the unit switches on.

I had the same problem as you did, unfortunately once these people have got your money they don't care. My advice, get rid in cex and don't buy tom tom again. Smart phones work a treat as gps.
