This review is from: Guttersnipe (Kindle Edition)I very much liked the sound of this book so I downloaded it. I've struggled to read 16% of it because although the idea of a clever, wily child taking on a variety of adults, in different situations sounds an interesting proposition, it seemed to me that the author just didn't have the skill to make the characters come alive and write interesting or credible dialogue. Just telling the reader that a conversation is funny or heartwarming doesn't make it so!
There were also quite a few mistakes even in the small portion that I read and they weren't just editing errors: there were also serious spelling and grammatical errors which were distracting. I hate giving up on books, but as I read I found myself thinking "I wonder if or when this is going to improve" and I eventually just gave up. Maybe if I'd persevered I might have been pleasantly surprised, but life's too short, really.

If I read only 16% of a book, I do not believe, hand on heart, that I could write an honest review of it so I would have just asked for a refund saying that I simply could not get into the book.
