I know it as "Rah", but...,
This review is from: Roar! (Hardcover)
This book is wonderful and life-celebrating, a journey for the imagination, rooted in a solid, everyday world. The relationship between mother and child is tenderly drawn, with an interplay of exuberance and understanding. The mother's restraint has a light touch and wisdom to it, a gentle tact that could be used as a model in parenting classes. The effect is touching and charming.
I gave a copy to my sister, who teaches music to young children, and she allowed her pupils to develop a whole performance based on this book.
The pictures are apparently simple, but with many connecting details which become clear. A lot of care seems to have gone into the design of the book. I believe that it could become a real favourite with young children, especially as it comes with its own, hopefully harmless catchphrase, 'Rah!'.
