3.0 out of 5 stars Has potential but doesn't live up to it, 14 Feb. 2010
This review is from: Fanged And Fabulous: Number 2 in series (Immortality Bites) (Mass Market Paperback)
I bought this, together with the first book (Bitten and Smitten) when it popped up in my recommendations for you list. I was disappointed in the first book but I had already bought the second one, so I gave it go because these series often improve after the first book.

Well, the second book is much the same as the first. Sarah (recently turned vampire) and Thierry (her vampire advisor, turned boss, turned boyfriend) are recently returned from holiday to find themselves in the middle of a major problem. Rumours have spread since the events at the end of the last book, that Sarah is the "Slayer of Slayers", a new vampire to be feared. This has resulted in there being rather too much interest in her from: other ancient vampires, Thierry's wife (whom he neglected to mention) and of course the vampire hunters. With all this going on, now is not the time for Thierry to starting backing off and becoming distant, or for Quinn to start coming on strong.

I found the storyline engaging enough and I still quite like the characters but it still hasn't got enough of the fun elements that you are promised. I occasionally smiled, but I didn't laugh out loud or even chuckle once. There's also not nearly enough heat between Sarah and Thierry. This side of things really needs amping up if Michelle Rowen wants readers to care about the couple. The potential of this book is clear to see, but it never lives up to it. Quite frustrating really. It should be better than it is. I'm a bit reluctant to try the third book because there's no sign that things are going to improve. Shame really.

Sorry to be a pain but I was wondering, I know that this series is out but it says pre-order. Did you order this on and it came pretty much immediately or is it only for pre-order because it is a new cover? Thanks

Catherine

I think that they have run out or are no longer personally selling it new at Amazon, but they are selling used copies through their Amazon sellers.
