This is PJ back to their very best for the first 7 songs, it's early days to say but I can only think that their 1st album Ten is better track for track over this section of the album and it hangs together really well. However, the final 5 tunes don't quite hit the same heights and don't sit together quite so well. Saying that, the only tune I wouldn't have here is sleeping by myself, as it was already on Eddie Vedders ukelele songs solo album recently. So if I could give it 4.5 stars that would be accurate. Of PJs 10 studio albums this will be in my top 4 I reckon, although time will tell.
To those not familiar with Pearl Jam, basically if you like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, the Who, QOTSA or the Foo Fighters you should love this.
If your already a PJ fan, get this in your collection, it's a good un.
If you've only heard Eddie Vedders solo stuff, into the wild soundtrack etc, then this may rock a bit hard for you, but reckon you'd still really like more than half the album tracks here.

It's all about opinions of course, but in terms of the last 5 tracks, you really don't rate track 11 'Yellow Moon'?
I actually think the last 5 tracks are brilliantly selected to give the album a real emotional finish.

Mr. C. Sutherland says:
No, don't get me wrong, I love the whole album but maybe with the last 5 they're a bit too diverse and it loses a bit of momentum. Agreed yellow moon is a standout in the last 5. As I said, the only one I wouldn't have included is sleeping by myself just because it was already on ukelele songs. It's only a week old but I'm thinking this is potentially one of the best PJ albums
