This review is from: Provided You Don't Kiss Me: 20 Years with Brian Clough (Hardcover)
Having lived the Clough era as a Forest fan I wanted a different viewpoint on the man and this marvellous book didnt let me down.
Duncan Hamilton's view on one of the greatest football manager's to have ever lived is breathtakingly honest and brutal. Filled with passion, humour and pathos it really takes a whole different perspective of Brian Clough, the man and football manager, showing for what he was - warts and all.
From Hamilton's first meeting as a spotted faced trainee journalist at the age of 16 to some 20 years later, shortly before Clough's death, the book tracks the glory European Cup winning years, the acrimonious split with Peter Taylor and the depths of desperation as the alcoholism bites
and presents us with a view of Clough's mindset which is not only fascinating but excruciatingly painful.
An excellent read for all true football fans
