A useful update to the crash course series,
This review is from: Crash Course Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 3e (Paperback)
The crash course series is perhaps alongside the At A Glance series one of the most popular series of titles for medical students to review when revising for their medical school exams. The series now has many titles within it but not all of them are essential, this title however I would propose is one of the core titles within the series.
Crash Course O&G is one of the most up-to-date titles with this series written primarily for the UK medical student audience. It is extensively referenced to the latest Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Green Top Guidelines and other authoritative texts on the relevant topics. As a text it is concise and to the point without excessive detail which at times other titles in the series have had. Perhaps one disadvantage that I've found is that some sections you may expect to see such as Obstetric Emergencies cannot be found within this title and you have to go rooting around the chapters to find much of this information. Additionally the one minor disadvantage I've found is as well that there isn't a full range of colours used even where this would be highly beneficial.
In conclusion if you are looking for an up-to-date and authoritative revision text on O&G then either this title or Obstetrics and Gynaecology at a Glance from Wiley (released 4 months earlier) are your best choices to go for dependent on which series better meets your style.
