I watched it on my own but kept saying to my wife "You've got to watch this film, it's fantastic!"
It really does get you on the edge of your seat - I could feel myself twisting in the chair as they tried desperately to make certain moves but couldn't quite make it. The desperation was palpable. The filming actually made you feel what it felt like to be stuck (at certain points) on that sheer cliff face in appalling weather.
You hardly notice the subtitles as it's not a word heavy film - just plenty of gutwrenching emotions and heartstopping moments.
There are quite a few awkward moral moments as well when you find yourself thinking "what would I have done at that point?" when they were faced with very awkward choices.
It reminded me a bit of 'Das Boot' (another German film) - when you really get the feeling that you know what it's like to be in that submarine - only in this case you know what it's like to have been on the side of that cliff.
