Counter to idiot steam reviewer,
This review is from: Grid 2 (PC CD) (CD-ROM)
So it needs steam and if you hate steam then 1 star it, well done. Now let's try an actual review rather than just a troll post.
Grid 2 is a well put together racer. However, it wont be to everyone's taste. It is much less of a sim than Grid 1 was but it hasn't gone all the way to arcade. Yes it has much more of an arcade feel but that doesn't mean you can just bounce off walls and exit the corner at the same speed you were on the straight. There is still enough of a sim element in the game, so only the hard core sim fanatics will be disappointed here. The cars handle very nicely and do a good job of making you look like a good driver. They come in three flavours (grip, balanced and drift) but more or less act similarly out on track. Choose a grip car and you can still drift nicely around a corner. Not a bad thing, just a little gripe about an otherwise decent handling model. There's a lot of different cars to choose from and ultimately comes down to personal preference as to which you'll choose for what event. The car models are beautifully designed to the point where I felt a little bad about damaging them, even if the damage model is great to see.
There are a nice mix of events and types of event. Don't like drifting? That's fine, pick touge, checkpoint or just a traditional race. Live routes come up at times and are quite fun if a little over sold. Yes the track changes but there's only a finite amount of corners so you soon get used to what direction the live route is taking you.
The tracks are sufficiently varied and look gorgeous when you're tearing round them at 150+ mph. All sorts of environments to gawp at when you should be focused on that wall coming at you very quickly.
In short Grid 2 is a lot of fun, looks good and promises hours of playability, just don't expect a hard core simulation and you'll be fine.
