I SOOOO wanted to love this camera!,
This review is from: Nikon D600 Digital SLR Camera with 24-85mm Lens Kit (24.3MP) 3.2 inch LCD (Electronics)
Let's face it, if you're an amateur - no matter how experienced... upwards of £1500 on a new body is a considered purchase, especially when you've also got to change half of your glass to suit an FX sensor, so whatever you spend your hard-earned money on - you want it to work!
I'd read the horror stories of dust and grease on the sensor, and thought to myself "people are being over-fussy", it's the negative review spin-doctors at work.
Sadly, I was wrong...
I've been into photography for over 20-years, I can clean a camera, and I also live in the real world so know that from time to time they need doing... but... not upwards of 50+ oil splats after 200-shutter releases! This isn't an el-cheapo entry level camera... its a semi-pro body with the price tag to match!
Talk about gutted... its a wonderful camera to handle, and does take an amazing photo (aside from the speckles), but I don't think any of us can live with this shocking drop in Nikon quality control...
When I called Nikon EU support I couldn't work out if they weren't bothered, or just resigned to the fact that it was yet another D600 victim on the telephone with the same old problem.
Anyway... camera has been returned... and yet more money now forked out on a D800, which I wished I had done in the first place now.
First the first time ever... and going against 20-years of being a die-hard Nikon fan... I would say avoid this camera at all costs... either get a D800 or stick with a DX sensor...
