Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: DK Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Universe (Hardcover)
I bought this book last year, and have really enjoyed it for the text and photographs. One small negative, though. I noticed that Mercury was stated as being the SECOND smallest planet, when it's now the smallest after Pluto was downgraded to a dwarf planet in 2006. It was probably text carried over from previous editions, so an understandable error, but I was a little disappointed with the book because of this. I emailed them to highlight the error, and they were extremely gracious, thanking me, and saying that they appreciated all input from members of the public, and would correct the error in their next edition. I would buy the same book again, despite the small hiccup, as it's an excellent all-rounder.

So why 3 stars if that's your only complaint?

It's an encyclopaedia. I expected accuracy. My depth of knowledge of astronomy is very small, so if I can find a mistake, there may be others. That's why.

You only found one fault though. One star off would have been enough. Anyway, the new edition's out now.
