Ceased working after less than two months of infrequent use,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
(Update 15 Nov 2012: This review was written 2 years ago. By chance I have noticed that the product to which it is now associated (X960 with LiIon battery, and charger) is not the product about which it was written.)
I bought this torch for emergency use, and if it turned out to be as good as the "250 Lumens" in the product name implied then I was going to buy a couple more.
The torch provides a bright, focused, white beam of light from two AA batteries. I question the "250 lumens" in the product title: I have compared this torch to a branded torch that itself is advertised as being sub-100 lumens - the light from the branded torch appears to be more intense and penetrates further. This is not to say that this product is without merit - the beam is bright, but I question the "250 lumens" tag.
The beam width is not adjustable.
The instruction booklet has no manufacturers address or web-site reference, but implies that the torch uses a CREE Q5 emitter (there's a check-box on the first inside page of the booklet with the "CREE Q5" box checked).
A quote from the instruction booklet:
"All of our products are examined carefully during production. Please be confident with our quality. If there are some problems during working, please simply repair by yourself".
I have used unbranded torches before, and they can last a long time. This one, however, lasted less than two months and has now stopped working (investigation with a multi-meter suggests a problem with contacts at the switch end of the unit). Looks like I'll be following the instruction booklet's advice after all.
Oh, and I will not be buying any more.
(It is quite possible that the unit I received is not representative of the majority of units, but we will have to wait for other reviews to verify that.)
