A bit overrated,
This review is from: Hawthorn and Child (Paperback)
I picked up this book due to some of the rave reviews I read of it, and to be honest when it started off they were right. The seedy editor, the gangland driver and his girlfriend, Hawthorn and how he seems to be lost and cracking up. The stories seemed to flow, left me interested and looking forward to when Hawthorn & Child would appear. And then, well somewhere along the line I stopped caring. I started to find the short stories frustrating, they had no real conclusion and by the time I finished the book I didn't really feel anything. Which is the worst thing a book can do I think. The book starts well but by the end of it the short stories become a bit bland and frustrating, to the point where I stopped caring what happened next.
