Great DVD for a good cause,
This review is from: Now That's What I Call Comedy - The Absolute Very Best of Modern Comedy [DVD] (DVD)
"Now that's what I call comedy" is a compilation DVD consisting of what are considered the very best comedy clips. Now you might be thinking at this point "here we go.....Basil Fawlty thrashing his car, The 2 Ronnies in the "Fork Handles" sketch, Del Boy falling through an open bar top etc etc" but NO! these clips are the best from MODERN comedy and so feature clips from the IT crowd & The Mighty Boosh, stand up from Lee Mack & Michael McIntyre, and extracts from quiz shows like 'Mock the Week' & ' Never mind the buzzcocks'.
There are 37 clips in all and the running time is well over 2 hours. Of course there are the inevitable duffers; (for me the Jamie King sketch left me cold and I thought there were better 'Flight of the Conchords' clips to choose from) but comedy is a subjective and personal matter so what one person finds boring someone else finds hilarious. (A personal highlight for me was Ricky Gervais & Friends in Kenya but I'm well aware some people can't stand him so hey ho! One man's meat is another man's poison etc)
Fortunately each clip is an individual "chapter" so if someone comes on you don't like, just hit that "Next chapter" button and you're onto the next one! (something Peter Kay should have done on his recent 'Special Kay' DVD if anyone was unfortunate enough to buy that!)
All in all a great selection of clips, good value for money and the knowledge that you're helping a good cause! Buy it!
