The US Blu-ray is region free,
This review is from: Battlestar Galactica: The Plan [Blu-ray] [US Import] (Blu-ray)
If you buy the Blu-ray direct from Amazon.com then it will probably be cheaper than buying the UK version whenever it finally arrives.
I have given this four stars (which might be a half too many),I would have loved to give it five - but the writing just isn't there. All four series and the mini-series were absolutely beautifully written, The Plan unfortunately falls well short of what I and probably most regular viewers of the series would expect.
It tries to cram too much in and actually I think would benefit from being trimmed by 20 minutes.
This is a mixture of old and new footage, but there are no new revelations - none at all.
Those who admire impressive CGI will be happy - although all the Centurion Cylons in this special are the newer ultra shinny ones who sashay across the screen swaying their bums rather than marching with menace. The attack on the 12 colonies is impressive, but somehow has completely lost the "grit" and the reality that worked so brilliantly in the miniseries.
There is only one scene within the two hours that in my opinion adds anything to the whole BSG experience, where Tyrol and a previously unknown deck hand (who is married to one of the Simon Cylons - their back-story is part of this special) discuss their relationships with their dead Cylon lovers. This new character actually gets a couple of lines in the original miniseries, so giving her more does work well.
If the rest of this TV movie had been written this well then it could have meant something. Sadly it falls short - but for everyone who has bought the UK BSG BD box set, this single BD including its packaging fits nicely inside the big Cylon tin!
