Pratt is an exceptional writer,
This review is from: The Strange Adventures of Rangergirl (Bantam Spectra Book) (Paperback)
This is a vast improvment on his previous work, and his english teacher at school must be delighted by some of the prose in this masterwork. Gone are out dated references to by gone news, and romanticising about a long gone world of 1980s bliss and a anenvironment swamped in casio watches and highstreet electrical stores.
California is such a great character although she does come across as a tad wooden, and almost corpse like towards the end. But Pratt plays and toys with her throguhout this epic in almost quiz machine like qualities. For Tim Pratt fans everywhere, and followers of his Leather Head style of contextualising the ambience, this is a must read. Get it now. Don't wait till you draw your pension. You won't be dissapointed.
