An essential guide to help you cope with Type 2,
This review is from: The First Year(tm)--Type 2 Diabetes (Paperback)I reviewed this before and still think if you can only buy one book, buy this one. In the second printing, the author has included a conversion chart so UK readers can read the blood glucose levels discussed in more familiar terms i.e. mmol/l as opposed to mg/dl the measures used in the USA.
This is a book that medical professionals and family members of people with Type 2 diabetes would learn a lot from. It would also perhaps stop them becoming "food police" based on misinformation. Any person with diabetes will know what I mean!
As more and more people even without diabetes to manage, are becoming concerned of the effect of a high carbohydrate diet, this will explain how this and lower levels of carbohydrate intake work and affect our physiology and diabetes in particular.
Gretchen Becker has written a very readable, informative and informed book.
If I could, I would buy this for everyone diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and give it to Type 1s too.
