Fantastic footage but could have been so much better....,
This review is from: BTCC 2011 Review (2 Disc) DVD (DVD)
I have to agree with everything that midgrid said above, there's no denying that you get your money's worth with the amount of racing footage shown, 7 hours should be enough for even the biggest of anoraks and makes great use of the 2DVD format, but seriously let down by a few baffling omissions.
Firstly, there's the absolute lack of qualifying round-ups, I was very much looking forward to seeing the Neal/Plato fisticuffs at Rockingham (didn't even get mentioned) and it would help setup the story of each weekend.
Next is the rarity of in-race replays, particularly for big incidents like Tom Boardman's aborted last-lap charge at Oulton and some other exciting moments that led to me having to reach for the remote control instead. Even the infamous Neal/Shedden collision doesn't warrant a single replay. It was also criminal not to include Shedden's moment of genius at Snetterton, surely a highlight of the season and would only have required 20 seconds.
Finally, there's the complete absence of post-race reaction or interviews, I thought Plato's epic whinge after winning at Oulton Park summed up the Turbo/NA battle that was a key point of the year, but the whole parity issue was only briefly touched upon. Also if anything happened on the last lap (i.e. Oulton Park!) then forget it, on to the next race.
Still, a great amount of racing action and a good review of a classic year. Just could have been so much better if they'd included a bit of pre/post race.
