A very cool soundtrack for a very cool movie...,

This review is from: Easy Rider: Songs As Performed In The Motion Picture (Audio CD)Easy Rider is arguably the greatest road-movie ever created, in a spaced-out sixties era which is perfectly complemented by the songs featured in the film and on this album.
While the most famous song is undoubtedly Steppenwolf's 'Born to be Wild',(cue the beginning of the film: Hopper and Fonda's journey, with the whole of America before them)every track has its place. My favourites are 'I Wasn't Born To Follow' courtesy of The Byrds, and Hendrix's acid-drenched 'If 6 Was 9' from his 1968 Axis:Bold As Love album.
For me, this is one of the only film/soundtrack combos that works on nearly all levels - both the film and the music are neatly intertwined,(so much so that Dennis Hopper's character was based directly on David Crosby)so it almost feels that one isn't complete without the other.
