Sarah Rayne is one of my favourite authors so I looked forward to this new one with great anticipation. As usual she delivers the fantastic scene setting she always does, when I read of being alone in the theatre I actually felt quite scared myself, she is a master of bringing the eeriness of these deserted buildings to the reader. However, whilst it is still an enjoyable read I didn't think it was her best novel, I found some of the earlier parts about Toby Chance's involvement in the political group a bit dreary, although it was obviously necessary to the plot as I discovered later.
Overall, it's chilling and intriguing but not just as good as some of her other books.
