Not as good as the competition,

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Now Amazon, in their infinite wisdom, apparently have me down as some sort of expert on the subject of hair straighteners. I'm not. I've never straightened my hair and probably never will. But luckily, my wife is. She must straighten her hair three or four times a day. She won't leave the house for anything without straightening her locks first. I have previously reviewed the Remington S8590 Keratin Therapy Pro Straightener with her help and it was the daddy, the don, the champion of straighteners. And so what of this, the S7200, the young pretender. Does it measure up? Frankly, no. Here's why:
The heat resistant pouch that comes with these tongs is narrow. It's really just for storage/carrying and no good as somewhere to put your straighteners down. Every other set of straighteners that my missus has sent to its premature demise has come with a carry case that could accommodate in this respect so no points there.
These claim to be "wet-to-straight" jobbies but they just don't work. My wife reckons they'd probably do the job for anyone whose hair was already straight, and I suppose that's true, but ultimately pointless. If your hair is thick or wavy, don't even try these from wet, she reckons. Dry it first.
But it's not all bad. On the up side:
The plates are cermaic and therefore kinder to your hair (apparently).
It has a turbo function so gets to the hottest setting quickly.
Apparently detects if your hair is already wet and sets itself to "wet-to-straight" mode (although given that said mode doesn't acutally work this seems a bit irrelevant).
Plates glide easily over hair (although, again, since they're not actually straightening it, this seems pointless, though may be useful if you actually want wavy hair but like the feeling of running straighteners over your mop).
Has an automatic 60 minute shut-off (though the fact that they don't come with a heat-proof mat as standard means your house and your neighbours' will be all-but burnt down by the time these things think to cut out).
And that's it. There are some redeeming features, but they don't really work. Take my wife's advice (as I always do, of course) and get the Remington S8590 Keratin Therapy Pro Straightener instead.

Maybe my missus was doing it wrong, who knows.
For what it's worth, she has a new favourite. It depends whether you colour your hair or not but you might want to try the Braun Satin Hair 7 Straightener ES 3-C.
