This review is from: The Kraken Wakes (Paperback)
Not a bad read, with some of Wyndham's typical concerns e.g. environmental disaster and just a hint of alien presence, although we are never sure about the origins of the beasts. More akin to the specifically environmental novels e.g. the The Death of Grass than to the Triffids or the Chrysalids but not as good as these last two. It starts well but loses its pace and the ending suggests that he didn't quite know what to do. I mean that it stops rather than ends and although that's true of many novels it's not a trap that Wyndham falls into in his better work. The characterisation is fairly week too. Still it's worth a read if you are interested in Wyndham's oeuvre.
