I'm a huge Jack Reacher fan. I've read every novel and eagerly await every new Reacher story. But why Lee Child felt the need to write this novella, I really don't know.
The whole thing is so completely unbelievable. The 16 year old Jack has all the qualities of the present day Jack...same height, same weight, huge geographical knowledge, fantastic psychological insight...need I go on. This 16 year old manages to outwit and physically overpower a major New York gangster, and along the way puts several of his thugs into hospital. Totally ridiculous. Oh, and there is also a completely gratuitous and very graphic sex scene...almost as though Lee Child wants to prove that anything E.L.James can do, he can do as well!
It's a Jack Reacher story, so it's a decent enough read, even allowing for the equally implausible ending. But please, Lee, no more of these silly novellas. Stick to what your massive army of loyal Reacherites love best...modern day Jack righting wrong wherever he goes.
