Entertaining history - or historical entertainment - at its best,
This review is from: Nick Robinson's Prime Ministers: Complete Series 1 (BBC Audio) (Audio CD)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
In this excellent BBC production you have what the BBC excels at - history made entertainment - and if you approach the series of recordings like that, it's a rewarding and thoroughly interesting wander through the more remarkable moments of the office of Prime Minister. Comprehensive it's not, and it's not meant to be - Nick Robinson paints vignettes of the most influential characters and the most dramatic and noteworthy moments of past governments, and he tells a great yarn in the limited time available. Picking out the best twists and turns, it really does entertain, but also manages to be factually accurate, balanced and fair.
It's divided neatly up into chunks featuring a single Prime Minister from early English parliaments right up to Attlee, so you can dip in and out as interest takes you - no need to listen from start to finish in order.
Entertaining history (or historical entertainment!) at its best - another quality BBC product.
