1.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, but..., 3 May 2011

This review is from: 3.5mm Audio and USB Interface Cable. 115cm 3-in-1 Apple Dock Connector to 3.5mm Audio AUX and USB Cable for iPhone 3G S, 4, 4S, All iPod Models and iPad 1 and 2. Enables Charging and High Quality Line Out Sound (and steering wheel control on Ford cars with USB and Aux.) (Electronics)
Appears to work as a charging cable, or an audio cable. When used as both, there is terrible interference on the audio output. I've tried two iphones (4 and 3GS)and two usb chargers with the same result.

If you put the iPhone into airplane mode then the interference will stop. This is due to the iPhone sending out a signal which can cause interference.

Thanks for the reply. I wish I'd know that because I've fiddled for ages and even replaced the cable (which has been routed through and behind the dash) with another. It's a shame it has to be that way though because I'd really still like to be available to take calls when I'm driving!

So I tried and the interference was still there. Two cars, various chargers, three iphones. It might work for some people, but sadly not for me.
