Enlightenement on Myths,
This review is from: A Short History Of Myth (Paperback)
Thi is a very interesting book, explaining the orgins of myths. It begins with myths that the hunter gatherers had, and goes on to the ones concerning agriculture. Karen Armstrong then takes the reader to the first cities and then to early Biblical times, when the prophets were alive. She explains the myths of each period in history and finally brings the reader up to the present time.
Karen Armstrong leaves the readers to draw their own conclusions a lot of the time, where the Bible is concerned. However, to me it stands out that there is a great similarity between the myths of history and the contents of the Bible.
She concludes by showing the value of myths and indicating that they should not be cast aside, but have a lot to say to us today about the way we live our lives.
