Good mix of material - Beehive edition has 13 tracks (like cassette did),

I deliberately hunted down this version as it mirrors the original extended cassette, even though it is not remastered and doesn't feature any 12" A-sides. Soundwise it's reasonable, though the recent Cherry Red reissue is crisper, and brings back lots of memories when Rosenmontag, Quicksand and Last Flight of Yuri start up! The artwork on this first CD incorrectly lists tracks as per the vinyl LP, but due to tape length a couple of tracks get swapped. This doesn't detract from the feel of the album though. Rosenmontag is the 4min+ edit and sounds the same as the 7" b-side version, whilst Last Flight is a 6.00 min edit of the track (the full mix is just over a minute longer, so you're not missing too much).
3 singles open the album, and the Bill Nelson produced one closes it (excluding bonus tracks). This is more polished than their debut, but has quite a lot of experimentation still, which had all but vanished by the 3rd album. Sounds as good today as it did on release, and oddly some of the album tracks actually stand out better over time.
One day maybe fans will get the full 8 min Rosenmontag on CD, but until then make do with your Nightmares 12" vinyl and this version of the CD album!
