A. A. MILNE AT HIS BEST!,
This review is from: The Red House Mystery (Paperback)
Due to the success of Winnie-the-Pooh, A. A. Milne is classed by many as a children's author. However, he actually wrote many more books for adults than he did for children. This particular book was written for teens and adults although I think that it is really a classic that the whole family can enjoy.
The hero of the book is a man named Anthony. When a murder is committed in a house that he is visiting, he appoints himself as 'Sherlock Holmes'. He then assigns his friend to the part of 'Dr. Watson' and sets out to solve the crime. In traditional murder-mystery style, they question suspects, take midnight trips by climbing out of their bedroom window, tap out secret codes and even stumble upon a secret passage.
This is one of those books that once you start reading, you find it very difficult to put down until you have read it from cover to cover. If, as A. A. Milne says in his dedication, 'like all really nice people you have a weakness for detective stories and feel that there are not enough of them' then this book is for you.
