Rush to buy it!,
This review is from: Everything's The Rush (Audio CD)
Delicious new album by the psychedelic-tinged indie popsters whose earlier two albums redefined the word 'euphoric'.
On a few hearings it's not a radical departure but when you've got things right in the first place, why change too much? The uptempo tracks such as Love Made Visible and Touch Down are giddily grin-inducing, and even the slightly mockney lead vocals of keyboard whizz Aaron Gilbert on One More Lie In and Friends Are False fit the Delays template nicely. It's when lead singer Greg Gilbert hits his straps that the album truly soars however, as always.
Favourite tracks are hard to pick when the standard is so high; it's easier to find those few which don't instantly lodge in the brain and for me the slowie Pieces might need a few more listens. The one downside is perhaps an overuse of sweeping string arrangements which, while perfectly acceptable, don't necessary add much to the confident yet delicate melodies peppered throughout this record.
Delays are back and doing what they do best. As the song says, Hooray.
