Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Belkin Wemo Home Automation Switch for Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch and Android Devices (Accessory)
I would expect this thing to work perfectly every time, but instead its pretty moody and not reliable especially when it comes to powering complex electronics...
My advice is - get this if you're looking to control simple things like lamps, kettles, toasters etc. Don't bother with anything complicated. There is a lot of work for them to do... maybe version 2.0 will be better.
If you're interested, here's what I tried to do: Plug my broadband modem into this WeMo, and control it via my Airport Extreme WiFi... As this WeMo is controlled by WIFI this should be a breeze. So I set it all up, and it works fine until the broadband goes off... Which should not b the case.
I also think that plugging devices into this WeMo should not affect the quality of the current - yet it seems to do so. I have an electric reclining couch - and as a test, I plugged it ingot he same socket through the WeMo, and the reclining speed was significantly reduced when it was plugged via the WeMo compared to when it was plugged directly into the socket. This is not ideal and should not be the case.
Anyway, I will keep it and use it for lamps and as a holiday timer, but will not buy another.

Mr. James P. Marsden says:
This /uses/ wifi, but it is controlled over the internet. Using it to turn off your modem (simply can't imagine why you would ever want to) is a bit like the cartoon character sitting on the wrong side of the chainsaw as he cuts the branch off the tree.
