There are some beautiful designs in this book and it has some really novel ideas, however, I have found the one project I dare approach (a pair of mittens) impossible to realise. First of all, the important thing to realise about this book is that it is an American knitting book. As a result the wool weights are differently named and there is no translation for the UK. If a book is going to be available in the UK, that translation should be there. The mitten pattern I tried was sketchy with not very good instructions. It referred to "rounds" which I took to be American for "rows" but God knows really. I found it incredibly hard to follow and kept making mistakes. I had to keep going back and unravelling bits and it wasn't at all an enjoyable experience to follow the pattern. The end result looked like a misshapen sock. I didn't bother with the second mitten. Overall, this is a pretty book, with some beautiful pictures, but the reality is, unless you are a real knitting expert, I'd choose something else.

I get really fed up with reviews of american knitting books like this. It is not hard to convert American knitting speak to English. But if you're stuck, visit Ravelry, it tells you everything you need to know.
