Great author, and this is a wonderful series, we find our hero Ridmark more determined than ever to prove his naysayers wrong. Having killed his wife through his own miss deeds (In his eyes at least), he is more than willing to risk his own life to save others in the hope that he will be doing good where others don’t and maybe, just maybe he will get the death he believes he deserves. He has now accidentally gathered an assorted group of misfits who share his quests, and in this novel their ranks are swelled by Gavin, who has the potential to become the next generation Ridmark. (Interested to see how this plays out). The preceding books were wonderful, and this story continues in the same way.
But.... almost from the start there are the odd missing words, or more annoyingly extra out of place words in the text. From about half way in this gets common place, almost as though in rewriting and changing, part of the original text has not been deleted. I have read many of this authors books and I can’t say this has been a problem before. It just needs editing well. I have commented in the past at the prodigious speed at which Jonathan writes. It is staggering how many books he brings out. Well on this occasion that speed may be the problem. Jonathan, please reread and correct. I know you are full of ideas and you want to get them down and out there, which is commendable, but this version of this book suffered badly for such haste.
I'm stilll going to read the rest of the series though, as this author is consistantly entertaining, in my opinion.
