Five Star Baking,
This review is from: Saved by Cake (Hardcover)
Five stars for the beautifully presented book, five stars for the humour and five stars for the honesty.
Marian Keyes has long been a favourite author of mine, she is funny, down to earth and real. Her novels are fun reads, yet cover some real social issues. Her writing is engaging and from the heart, it is so apparent that her characters are created with great passion and are often drawn from her own experiences.
I was sad when I found out that Marian was sick, her regular newsletters are a welcome ray of sunshine and I missed them whilst she was away. I was delighted to hear that she was on the mend and that she would be publishing a cookery book.
After books, food is my passion. I love to cook although baking is not a speciality of mine. However, the feel and the look of this book enticed me to buy it. I'm delighted that I did.
It's glossy and pink and cheerful and Marian has written her recipes with her trademark style and humour. It made me cry - the honesty in her writing is astounding. She tells of her illness, how she has felt, how she is feeling and how she expects to feel in the future.
The recipes are wonderful - easy to follow, glorious photographs and very tasty too. I've tried a few, my husband loves the Snickers Cheesecake - it's a real hit.
A beautiful book to have on my cookery shelf.
