Good but could have been so much better,
This review is from: Batman: Arkham City - Catwoman - Steel Book Edition (PS3) (Video Game)
I was a HUGE fan of the original arkham, yet in translation to the new city, something seems to have been lost in the game in an attempt to make it bigger. to call it a bad title would do the designers discredit, yet something is defiantly missing from the title that made the original so fun to play.
don't ask me why yet the designers decided this outing to complete change of pace, to the point where I would no longer say this is so much of a beat them up yet adventure, feast, more in tune with the likes of other adventure series like fallout with a twist. combat relies to heverly on stealth this time round as everyone seems to be carrying a gun on a rooftop or in mr freeze case cannot be attacked head on. one moment its zip line central to a complete button feast the next all in all it feels a complete lack of varriaty that the original prided its self on.
it is quite possible to Finnish the main story line without completing any of the secondary tasks, this approach is a love it or hate it affair as the these mini games make it feel completely disconnected from the main arch and make the users feel like they have only been included just to further the licence than actual game play.
puzzles range from the simple, to down right frustrating god knows how may time i wanted to bypass the fly a bat rang in to a fuse box, or leave the joker riddles dotted around.
graphics are ok yet seem to lack a bit of polish, maybe its me yet the poligon count is down on the bad guys.
Yet all in all I'm just left feeling this title is a bit of a let down compaired to its predecessor, to much time is spent running or flying to a destination than actual combat the only welcome distraction are the cat woman stages (available to normal pack users as a dlc option) yet even they can't really save it from being a distinctly Average title.
all in all 3 out 5
