Less Merrily, more Jane,
This review is from: The Prayer of the Night Shepherd (Merrily Watkins Mysteries) (Paperback)
I don't know why, but I didn't buy this when it came out as I had done with the other Phil Rickman books, and therefore had to buy it second hand at a premium as it seems to be out of print.
It's only my opinion, but this to me is by far the most unbalanced, least gripping of the entire Merrily series.
For a start, it seems that Jane plays a far larger part in the proceedings than Merrily herself, and that to me just doesn't seem right!
Unlike other Phil Rickman books, this wasn't a real page turner, I could quite happliy read a chapter a night, and put it down, not itching to know what happened next.
It's certainly one of the books of his that I won't be going back to.
