This review is from: The Golem and the Djinni (Kindle Edition)
I loved them both.
The Golem, in this story is a woman made of clay, of extraordinary strength, created only for one purpose. To be the bride of an antisocial furniture maker.
The Djinni, a free spirit made of fire was enslaved by an evil magician and kept in captivity in a flask used for olive oil.
But fate brought them together.
I have enjoyed this solid fantasy story, especially I am familiar with the lore of the Djinns. I was not knowledgeable at all about golems, so, it was nice to find out something uncommon and another lore from another tradition.
My complaint is that the book is over 800 pages but the story could have been told in half of this. It is confusing at time because you go back and forward with the history of the Djinni but you have to read a lot of chapters to go back where you left off.
It is still good, hence the four stars, but not as good as I anticipated. It must be the length. I do like long books but not when go in cirlcles and perhaps, it is what the Golem and the Djinni has done. But nevertheless, it was a good read.
