On balance this book is worth buying for the well plotted dynamics of various groups under pressure - the street gang and the group who'd taken refugee in the castle especially. OK, the religious fundamenalist played like the one in the remake of the film 'The Fog' , but the way she manipulated the crowd was portrayed excellently and was well observed.
However the central premise of the book - that long dead corpses had forced their way out of coffins and then burrowed their way through six feet of earth was nonsense and spoilt the book in many ways. Yes we're all prepared to suspend disbelief as long as the story plays to its own rules and this bit didnt. Also the bit where even after one person had turned in the castle after being bitten, each and every time after when someone got bitten , they were never isolated and every time went on to cause more infection. Not sure if this was a very weak plot device or just lazy thinking.
But on balance, yes lets have more from this auther, but with a lttle more thought going into some parts of the plot !
