The original concept was great and the first series ground-breaking. In the middle of the seasons it perhaps loses its edge a bit but 7 and 8 show a return to form. They were probably right to stop when they did as the formula was getting worn out but I don't suppose Kiefer is ever going to be poor after this.

This set is presented in a slipcase with 10 normal sized DVD cases. The first 8 contain 6 DVDs for each season. Box 9 contains 6 bonus discs (Seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8) The final box contains the single DVD edition of Redemption.
(I thought they might have included the Extended 2-Disc Collector's Edition here, but not so).

For the uninitiated 24 is the most addictive TV series ever shown, it only slows down in season 6 momentarily and then back up to full speed in season 7, my personal favourite. (Redemption is a prequel to season 7)
24 follow's the events of a day in the life of Agent Jack Bauer (played by Kiefer Sutherland) in real time.

24 is an extremely well produced series with a great cast and guest appearances. It is the perfect vehicle for Kiefer Sutherland's talent. 24 is the only TV series I have managed to watch completely from start to finish. I have previously owned 24 - Complete Seasons 1-6 [DVD] [2001] now that this set has been delivered I intend to watch everthing again from start to finish.

As far fetched as 24 can seem at times, its not to far removed from reality in America. I want to be on Jack Bauers side

If you are new to 24 like me (my friends both male and female of all ages have constantly gone on about it so I decided to see what all the fuss was about and trust me they were right to talk about it!) and want to buy the whole works - Seasons 1-8 plus Redemption then this is a great set to buy as it is good value for money (if you buy the individual sets it can come to almost £200).
They come in a box which is actually smaller than expected as everything is so compact! It contains a standard DVD case per season with one also for Bonus and one for Redemption. Each DVD case then contains 6 discs each, each clearly labelled. Would definitely recommend!
Be careful though - getting the whole set makes you want to watch all at once - it is very addictive with each episode of fantastic quality like a mini movie! A great buy.

Picked up the complete series set for just under £[], which has to be the best value DVD set ever.
However, there are a few special features missing from the UK set. I think the most important are the Season 4, 5 and 6 Prequels (mini-episodes which lead into the season proper, and feature Jack) and the extended version of Redemption (although you can get this seperately in the UK). Here's a season-by-season list of what's missing (nothing is missing from S7 or 8):

S1

"Season One Introduction with Kiefer Sutherland" featurette
Audio commentary on "12:00"
Audio commentary on "23:00"
25 extended/deleted scenes (26:23)
"The Genesis of 24" documentary (24:40)
2 "The Rookie" vignettes (6:34 and ~10min)

S2

*Note the UK version has 25 seconds cut due to legal reasons*

S3

Season Four Teaser
Season Four Prequel

S4

Season 5 Teaser
Season 5 Prequel
"Fox Movie Channel Presents: Making A Scene" (7:28)
24 Conspiracy: Minute One to Minute Twenty-Four

S5

Season 6 Teaser
Season 6 Prequel

S6

Public Service Announcement
The Technology of 24

Redemption

*Note these features are available in the separate Redemption 2-Disc set*
Extended Cut
Audio commentary
"The Making of 24: Redemption" featurette (21:56)
"Blood Never Dry: Child Soldiers in Africa" featurette (15:03)

Absolutely love the series, I'm only up to season 6 thus far but it has kept me watching throughout.

One thing I do detest about this box set however is dumb piracy adverts at the start of every single DVD. I've just dropped 50 quid on a box set I shouldn't have to sit through warnings about something I'm obviously not doing! Luckily these can be skipped using an application like VLC or media player classic.

Excellent value and excellent entertainment. Bought this for a bit of winter watching and I am only getting around to reviewing it now - addictive and compelling stuff. Nice having the whole thing together in the box set.

Probably the best spy show ever, along with Mission: Impossible (the original series from the 60s)!!! I have seen every season MULTIPLE times, and I gotta say, it never gets old. Love everything about it. The acting, the directing, the wonderful score, the set design, and of course the tense, hair-raising story lines. Sometimes the plots get repetitive, but hey... the show is still better than 98% of what's out there. Kiefer Sutherland in the role of his life time!

PS: Just one thing I was disappointed about. Why is the audio commentaries for the Season 4 missing in the UK version? I know they recorded 12 commentaries because I heard them on a different edition. WHY???? Otherwise the set would have been perfect, though it's still nice, of course. :((

Where do you start with reviewing the action-thriller series that has defined a decade? With the main man himself, Jack Bauer. Kiefer Sutherland, in the role he was born to play, shines as America's most deadly counter-terrorist agent. Due to the nature of the show, the main cast changes frequently due to character death and betrayal, but no matter who is by his side, Sutherland gives Emmy-award winning displays throughout the eight seasons and film. Forget Jason Bourne and James Bond, and introduce yourself to the one-man assault force that is Jack Bauer.

How does 24 work? Each season is set in one 24 hour day. There are 24 episodes, each lasting one hour of "real time" in Jack Bauer's life. These aren't your average days however, they are filled to the brink with terrorism, explosions, conflict and action. The ideas come from real world fears, including threats of assassinations, nuclear bombs, pathogen outbreaks, suicide bombers and more. Although some of the latter seasons do recycle old ideas with a fresh twist, the writer's have always come up with new ways to shock the audiences. Even in the latter stages of the final season, I was constantly being kept on the edge of my seat. It's not just me either, viewers across the globe have lost days and weeks following the traumatising events in 24, with many intending to watch one episode and eventually turning off the TV after completing their 4th or 5th, it really is like a book you can't put down.

If you have enjoyed shows like Lost or Prison Break, then 24 is definitely for you, and what better way to experience the series than this complete set? Don't be put off by the price, there is more than enough packed into this box to keep you going in time for the film series, hitting cinemas in 2011-12. This is the finest action drama to ever appear on television, and it really is not to be missed. I am seriously jealous of each and every one of you who have all 190+ episodes to enjoy! Have fun :)

I, unintentionly, avoided this programme until May 2015, where upon struggling for a new boxset to indulge in, eventually decided to give 24 a go.

And boy am I glad I did!!!

Once I had watched one, I had to watch another there and then! This really is gripping stuff with many fantastic characters.

None more so than our main protaganist. The flawed but quite brilliant Mr Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland)

Jack strives to have a normal life and to be happy, but his dedication to his country regularly prevents this.

The US government view him as a loose-cannon, but ultimately, one who gets the job done.

Although once he saves the day, as he so often does, they question his tactics and occasionally try and make him accountable for his some-what unorhtadox but very effective actions.

C'mon! The man has a tough job do.

As a field-agent in the seeminlgly easily penetrable CTU (Counter-Terrorist Unit) he is the go-to man to save presidents, expose bad-guys and foil terrorist activity.

CTU encoutners several breaches of security with employees who are basically spies but they can occasionally ''cut a deal'' to avoid prosectution.

Should you watch this TV show?

Goddamit yes!

Once you watch the first couple of episodes you'll churn through them like Jack emptying a Glock 17 hand-gun!

Buy buy buy!

I got this product just over a week ago and since I watched the first episode i found myself completely immersed in this show. I have been watching it in real time to make it feel more real, every time there was a five minute break In the show I would sleep, shower, eat and do simple tasks like washing up, but as soon as the show was going to start again I would go straight back to it, i felt it was the best way to see how this show worked. After doing this for an entire season I found myself wanting more so I did the same for the rest of the show and now I have finished, an entire 8 days of this, I'm now lost, I don't know what to do, I feel so lost and empty, I heard about another series that is meant to be good called game of thrones, but it won't compare, where are you now jack, I miss you. Don't buy this show, it will only hurt you in the long run!

Just heard there's another season coming out! That's a BINGO!
