Product Description

You are about to view something very special... The programmes contained on this disc have rarely, if ever, been seen at their full technical potential and certainly not on the medium they were originally designed for. It is the legacy of both producers and contributors who aspired to high production values but only now can their work be fully appreciated. These new high definition transfers and restorations from the original 35mm elements herald a new era for these iconic shows for both loyal fans and new audiences.

The Persuaders!: Chain of Events
Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased): When Did You Start to Stop Seeing Things?
Department S: A Small War of Nerves
The Champions: The Invisible Man
Strange Report: Report 2493: Kidnap - Whose Pretty Girl Are You?

5.0 out of 5 stars retro ITC in Blu Ray 7 April 2013
By Miss M. Potter TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE

This is an excellent compilation of some classic British TV shows from the ITC stock. They are all contained on a single Blu Ray disc in HD quality picture that makes them look the best they have ever appeared.
The original shows were produced from 1968-1971 but look stunning in HD.
There are five selected episodes in total. Each one represents a classic show. The disc is great in its own right as a compilation of entertainment, but it also makes a good sampler of not only the great shows but the full series DVD and Blu Ray issues already released on Network.

The first show is The Persuaders. This has been issued as a complete series set both on DVD and Blu Ray and here we get a great episode that helps to show off what a great show it was and the blu ray quality of the complete series. It is a great episode as well.
The second episode is Randall and Hopkirk Deceased. This has only appeared on DVD previously and this particular episode is the first and only time to appear in HD quality so far. It is stunning. I really hope that Network get round to doing the complete series in HD in the future because this just looks fantastic. It is such a wonderful series and this is a treat to see it looking so good.
The same can be said for the next episode from Department S and then another from the Champions. They all look the best they ever have done.
The final episode is Strange Report. This has previously only been available on DVD but it was digitally restored and the picture was fabulous. Now this one episode in HD looks even better and once again I hope there will be a complete series release on Blu Ray.
There are no subtitles and the sound Is in mono.
There are some excellent episode choices here as well and the whole thing is a great product as an illustration of retro and classic TV in the best picture quality that often looks like it was made yesterday and not nearly 50 years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice..! 25 Oct 2012

Actually, I'm enjoying all three volumes of Network's "Retro-Action" Blu-Ray discs. I've never seen these old shows look so good. HD has given these retro actioners a new "zing" that makes my old A&E dvd copies of Dangerman and The Saint look a little ragged around the edges. You get five 50-minute programs.. all great fun and a wonderful timewarp for those of us who were there the first time around.

I'm glad I bought this.
