Charles Wilson Zipped Cargo Shorts With Belt

I was kindly provided with a reviewer's sample of these 34" Khaki green shorts for honest reviewing purposes.

* About the fit:
- We got the 34" sized shorts and these felt like a good fit so I'd say the sizing is accurate.
- Wearing the shorts felt very comfortable
- The length of the shorts reached just to the knee - a good length

* About the material:
Feels like good quality fabric that has a sturdy texure to it. The material is a medium-weight - not super lightweight but not excessively heavy either. It's made of 100% cotton which is great since it's a breathable, natural fibre. Although I'd normally expect cotton to crease and need ironing, these didn't look like they crease *too* badly in my opinion.

* About the fly:
Note that it has a button fly rather than a zip fly.

* About the pockets:
Lots of pockets - eight in total including some of the little pockets inside a pocket - extra pockest are always a plus for me!

* About the stitching:
On the whole the stitching looks good. I'd give it an "A-" for stitching rather than an "A" since there were one or two loose threads and a few tiny stitching errors if you look really closely - nothing too serious though.

* About the belt:
The matching belt provided is a striped "double D ring" canvas belt. I didn't know how to tie one, so googled it, learned how to do it and added a segment to the video demonstrating how to fasten it in case that's helpful to anyone else out there. The belt that came with the khaki green shorts was a nice-looking beige one and I found it was a comfortable, well-made belt.

* Overall:
My overall impression was that these are a good looking pair of shorts with a comfy belt to go with them.

The Charles Wilson Zipped Cargo Shorts With Belt are a pair of casual looking shorts that are perfect for the summer months.

The overall quality of the shorts is of a pretty high standard. Made from 100% cotton, the cargo shorts are quite light and very comfortable to wear.

Size-wise, I'm generally around 34" to 36" waist. What I ordered was therefore the 36" waist, preferring to have the shorts slightly on the larger size than too small. I have to say the 36" waist is pretty much the perfect size fit for me - fitting me comfortably without being too tight or too loose.

The cargo shorts are button flied, with three hard plastic buttons making up the fly and a slightly larger plastic button making up the main fastener for the shorts. The buttons aren't too tight or too loose when unbuttoning (as they can be on some shorts), and feel tough enough not to break if knocked hard or in the washing machine.

On the left leg you have a zip-up pocket which is approximately 17cm deep and 18cm wide. On top of this pocket is a far smaller one which has poppers instead of a zip or buttons. On the right leg you have a large 20cm x 20cm pocket which has two poppers keeping it closed. On the back you have one medium-sized zip pocket and one medium-sized normal non-fastening pocket.

The stitchwork is of a good standard. On close inspection you can see tight stitching throughout, with very little snags or slips in the stitchwork. As such the shorts will no doubt last for a good while of general wear over the summer months.

Overall I'd say that I'm incredibly happy with the cargo shorts. They're stylish and practical and have a good range of pockets with good fastenings to them.

The cargo shorts also come with a striped canvas belt. The one that came included (which was actually sent separately for me, so not in the accompanying video) is the 'Charles Wilson Striped Canvas Belt'.

These Charles Wilson Cargo Shorts surprised me because I thought the reference to them being "Zipped Cargo Shorts" referred to them being zipped fly but, in fact, they have a three button fly. The reference to zips refers to the fact that they a zipped rear pocket (the other rear pocket does not have a zip), plus, there's a handy zipped pocket on the left thigh plus a small pocket with press stud. On the right hand thigh there's a substantial bellowed pocket secured by two press studs and there are also two slash waist pockets, plus, inside the top of the right hand one is a handy phone or change pocket. Two spare buttons are supplied.

The button waist and six belt loops make these shorts comfortable to wear plus a belt is included - the striped belt features two rings which grip the belt at the right diameter rather than the usual spike and buckle design. I love the design and fit of these shorts - mine are 34" waist and are so cool and comfortable. In addition, the 100% cotton cloth means they are easy to care for and although the shorts can be washed at up to 40 degrees C, I find if you wash them at 30 degrees and hang them up as soon as the wash finishes you'll get away without ironing them too. Another feature of Charles Wilson clothes I like is that unlike certain high street brands the buttons don't fall off after wearing/washing them a few times.

Cool, stylish, practical, well made and with a belt included, these Charles Wilson shorts are recommended.

I have these Charles Wilson shorts in “Burgandy” and size “30 Waist x Regular”, the length of the shorts in this size is 22” which on me means they sit just on my knee (I’m 5’8”). In the flesh I’d probably describe the colour of these shorts more as “claret”.

I always wear 30” trousers/jeans and these shorts fit perfectly, are very comfortable, and as they are 100% cotton are nice and lightweight.

I’ve washed these shorts the once on a 40 degree wash and the colour is still the same as when I received them.

There are 8 pockets in total on these shorts, 6 main pockets and then 2 smaller ones. One of the thigh pockets is button down and the other has a zip…I quite like this asymmetric styling, it looks good and is practical too.

The shorts come with a really nice plain canvas belt with faux leather detailing, contrast stitching and a double ring metal buckle. I’ve really come to like this style of buckle as it’s infinitely adjustable and has a great casual look to it. The size “Small (28-30”)” belt that I received measures roughly 42” (107cm) long and looks great against the colour of the shorts.

I’m very happy with these cargo shorts, they look great, wash well and are very comfortable. Highly recommended!

I was kindly provided a sample by the manufacturer to review; the opinions expressed here are entirely my own view of these shorts.

These are just the job for a day out as you can comfortable and securely carry all you might need about your person. The zipped front pocket is reassuringly safe for keys, phone etc. In front too there is a stud fastening long pocket whose purpose I am not quite sure about (a card?), two slip in hand pockets at the hip. One has another pocket inside, phone sized. Another large two stud fastened pockets, in the front, one of which has an expanding pocket with extra room, as it is proud of the shorts. At the back there is another zipped pocket and an easy access one.

The fly has three buttons (two spare come with the shorts) and one waist button. I think will need the belt which does finish off the look most tidily. The waist being 34" you might need to adjust the tightness.

The feel of these shorts is surprisingly soft considering how tough they are. I think the quality of these is outstanding, the seams all so well sewn they should last a really long time and never go out of fashion.

I've owned enough clothes over the years to be able to tell what's good and bad quality and with these it's obvious that it's good as soon as you remove them from the pack.

Received for reviewing purposes these 'Zipped Cargo Shorts' are available in 6 different colours over a wide range of sizes ranging from 30-40 inch waists. I received the Khaki colour in the 34 inch size and I was more than happy with the colour that I received as Khaki is very popular at the moment as it's an earthy colour.

They are made of 100% cotton and have an ideal weight and thickness. It's best to wash them at + 40 Deg C in a washing machine, anything hotter than + 40 Deg C is likely to do more harm than good in the long term and is best avoided.

They have a significant amount of small to medium sized pockets with 2 of these being zipped making them ideal to hold critical items such as your smartphone, keys or wallet.

In use they were comfortable to wear and overall they offer good value for money.

I often want to travel light and never have enough pockets these cargo shorts as their name implies solves this problem. All together there are eight in this case. The zipped in the description does not apply to the fly as they are button fixings but to the fact that two of the pockets have substantial zips. With the exception of two of the small pockets one of which would take a mobile phone and the other smaller one that I use to put my “Leatherman” in, the others are large and will hold a lot of things.

The material is fairly thick so they should be hard wearing but despite the thickness of the material they are nice and soft to wear.

I suppose my only warning is not to load them too much as that could be embarrassing.
The length from the top of the waist to the bottom of the leg is approximately 22” or 56cms so quite long.
In all very useful and practical shorts.

These cargo shorts which I was sent for review are a very attractive slate blue. Mine are labelled 40 inches and the waist measurement is 42 inches. I will point out that they are called zipped because the pockets are zipped not the fly. The fly is a button fly with three buttons. The top button is sewn and so you could move it a little if you needed to. There are six belt loops and it comes with its own webbing belt which is stripey and has a chain-link fastening. It's a good long length at 50 inches long.

There are two side pockets and an internal pocket. On the back are two pockets. One is a regular inside pocket and the other one has a zip on it which you could put your wallet in. The patch pocket on the side is complete with press stud so you could also put your wallet in there. The patch pocket on the other side has a zip at the top and also a smaller lower pocket with press stud -- it although it's a bit too small for anything.

The fabric is medium weight cotton and is labelled as 100% cotton. These shorts are washable at 40°. The measurement from crotch to waistband on the front is 12 1/2 inches and the inside leg measures 10 inches. These cargo pants have a seam at the bottom. They are reminiscent of canvas jean trousers but lighter weight. I love all the zipped pockets. I am a keen walker and these are going to be really great for walking in the summer.

The colour is accurate but the I'm always a 34 regular and these shorts are tight and restrictive I'm quite slim and my legs feel restricted in these shorts. Overall not a great purchase! :(

Great shorts. Bought for my son who's nearly 6'2" tall with long legs! They fit perfectly and are very high quality. He would have preferred a zip fly but otherwise he's very happy. I was pleased that the company gave a discount on the postage price for ordering two pairs. Meanwhile, hubby has decided that he likes them too, so we have another couple of pairs on order.
