4.0 out of 5 stars proper irish baby name book.
Great book. We have loads of irish name books and this was one of the better ones. No made up names, all genuine and unusual. Really liked it and have picked a name from it for our new son.

3.0 out of 5 stars No much good if you can't speak Gaelic/Irish
I bought this book as living in the UK you don't often come across Irish names and needed some inspiration. Although it has plenty of names included, along with their background and an indication as to whether the name is male or female, there are no pronunciations. 3.0 out of 5 stars No much good if you can't speak Gaelic/Irish, 16 Jun. 2013

I bought this book as living in the UK you don't often come across Irish names and needed some inspiration. Although it has plenty of names included, along with their background and an indication as to whether the name is male or female, there are no pronunciations. Considering the majority of Irish names are pronounced very differently to how they are spelt, the book isn't much good if you have no way to determine this. Luckily for me, the other half is fluent in Gaelic and so has read the names to me like a story book, but if you don't have a similar option, I wouldn't recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Felt like I had to be Irish to understand this book, 26 July 2013

Terrible, the explanations of the names was very convoluted, really felt like this book was made only for the Irish or more specifically Gallic speakers and there really weren't that many names in the book. Total waste of money, buy a different book.
