An excellent book from someone I served alongside. Great to see a description of the conditions under which we learned, flew and happily survived.

5.0 out of 5 stars telling it as it was, 14 Jan 2011
It is clear that tony doyle has been there, seen it and done it all with a great sense of humour as well. Fascinating read for all those interested in military history and true life stories at the cutting edge.

5.0 out of 5 stars flying lover, 14 Mar 2012
this is one of the best written stories I have read for a long time, and it makes you think that you are flying in the aircraft along side the author at times. thouroughly recommended reading

5.0 out of 5 stars A controversial but excellent book, 29 Dec 2013

Tony Doyle had a fascinating career in the RAF. He was outspoken and often disagreed with 'the system'. One can enjoy his account of his flying activities and one can also see how self-protecting senior officers in the RAF had become.

One of the best books on flying written in recent years. A 'Warts and All' account of flying a variety of aircraft, from Chipmunk to supersonic Lightning,in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Tony Doyle is to be congratulated on this magnificent effort. A reading 'must'.
