Great improvement on the next-gen version - No steam or download options,

I just received my copy of GTA 5 for PC - The boxed, standard edition.
First things I noticed are that no, it does not come with a steam code, but rather a rockstar code. Also, you cannot download the game, you have to install it with the CDs of which there are 7 which takes around 2 hours to complete! The presentation is great. In the box you get the 7 game disks and a small folder with a map and instructions and it looks as good as some collectors editions, though I imagine the size of the box is largely down to the sheer size of the game and the need for so many disks. Also, this game is able to install on 60GB of free space, not the 65GB listed on this page and steam. It does the first 55GB on disk and the last 5GB on download, and the download has been taking a long time, most likely due to the current stress on the rockstar servers. I've played this game for a few hours now and my impressions are really good. I have the Samsung U28D590 4K monitor so I have played it on both 1080p and 4k. 4K - This is the first game I've played where 4k really makes sense. The textures are incredibly detailed and it looks like it's made for 4k where as other games just look like up-scaled 1080p textures. The detail is really noticeable in things like the road, detail on the walls and in buildings. It is very graphically intensive though, and even with AA off and shadows / draw distance set to low it's a real graphics card killer. I'm running it on a GTX970 and I get around 25FPS with these settings, and it can get very choppy if I turn AA off. The graphics settings are fairly limited. You can set the DX version you want to use, v-sync, AA, shadows and draw distance, but there are no 'low, mid, high' type settings on different areas that most games would give you. V-sync does make a huge different as without it this game gets more tearing than I've seen on most others. On default settings though, it looks really amazing. In comparison to the console release this looks like it's set to high when they are on low. The story and online system, as far as I'm aware, are the same as the console release. One difficulty I've had with PC is the 'iFruit' app, which asks you to select your platform on sign in, which only lists consoles, not PC.

I can't tell you how good this game is!!
No, honestly I can't.. The unique code to activate and play it is being used by another user..!!!!!! For the past 6 1/2weeks I have been emailing Rockstar's support to complain and ask for a new code without success..they did reply at one point saying my problem was solved..the problem was some one else was using the code I had. For the last 3 weeks my problem had been supposedly passed to the correct department but I haven't had a single message from them, not even to say it was being dealt with! No reasons, excuses, answers or new codes given...just nothing!!!! So give this game a miss, despite all the hype about how good it is meant to be, because if you ever need any support you will get nothing back. Not even a reply. A very very dissapointed and dissatisfied customer.

Excellent,
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto V (PC) (Video Game)
I had previously given this game 2 stars because of the problems it faced on day 1, but now those are sorted I feel I should amend my review. Excellent game, runs amazingly well, brilliant storyline. It's a shame Rockstar doesn't support modding though, as I have found the FOV in first person to not have a big enough range and I don't want to install a mod in case Rockstar drops the hammer on modders. Because of this and the fact that the game should have really come on Blu Rays it now gets 4 stars (the game itself is 5 stars though)

Install game from discs, patched up, started game, ran fine at 60fps very high settings. Loaded game, punched a man in the face and stole his truck. 10/10 would punch again.

This would get a 4 if the game actually worked properly. It started off fine, running solidly with, but not 100% smooth on virtually maxed out settings at 1080p. Then they patched it and broke it. And continue to break it. Textures don't load, roads and buildings go missing, the game crashes, patches take forever. I thought you were one of the good guys Rockstar. Take a leaf from CD Projekt Red. The Witcher 3 runs fine on my machine, virtually maxed out, but your game doesn't. Before you say my machine isn't up to it, running a 4570 @3.2 GHz (not the most powerful, but sufficient), 16GB RAM and a GTX 780

Very simple...
60 fps 4k support and full HD Fast loading times Gorgeous revamp of graphics And the icing on the cake... First person mode... On foot, in cars, on boats, in planes and whatever else you can think of. GTA V on PC is the version that should have always been out since day one back in 2013.

Been waiting forever for this game to come to PC and finally it's here!. It really was worth the wait, I have a pretty high spec system and I'm able to max everything out and the graphics are awesome. The game is HUGH, I haven't played many missions yet as I like the drive around and explore the city but boy is it impressive. This is an adults game so there is alot of violence, bad language and sexual explicit ( strip bar and prostitutes) parts in it. Best game I've played in years.

First of I got digital edition(be aware its 50gb + DL). No steam but Rockstar social club. Which is surprisingly good. (no steam even if you get it via steam you still need rockstar club for online features).
First off I have a high end set up (8 core amd & msi GTX980 graphics card) This looks great & runs perfectly. The difference between this & previous shabby Rockstar ports is noticeable. Graphics are top notch. No quick 360/ps3 port here. The game obviously is the same console game but with extra eye candy. Really impressed so far one word of advice is at the first mission due to some colourfull language headsets would be advised with wife in ear shot. Great port of a great game its only taken them a long time to deliver.

This is my first experience of Grand Theft Auto 5; I've avoided playing the PS3/XB360 versions, and the more recent PS4/XBOne versions in anticipation of the PC version coming out. So after an 18 month wait… I had a further 7 hour wait as it appears the rest of the PC community had yesterday installing the game. 2 hours to install the 62gb over 7 discs, then 5 hours to download 5gb more. Yes this was a bit annoying, but in all honesty I expected it and I'm not going to mark down the quality of the game because of it. If anything it gave me a chance to complete Far Cry 4 which I'm not likely to go back to now GTA V is out!
I take this opportunity to note the 1 and 2 star reviews already here… guys and gals, use a bit of common sense here - this isn't the first AAA game to suffer day 1 download delays and server problems- Assassins Creed anyone? This, unfortunately for now, is to be expected as games are bigger and PC hardware is more varied and in effect dated from one week to the next as tech moves on so quickly both at the user and developer ends. Give it a few days to settle and Rockstar will have it sorted. Think about it, 100s of thousands of people all over the world got this game yesterday, bottlenecking on the servers was inevitable. Also, the people moaning about not being able to load the game up once it had installed on their £3.5k rigs- again, common sense here - check all your drivers are up to date. Both AMD and NVidia released GTA V PC beta drivers yesterday. This was announced on their websites and social media and retweeted by Rockstar. And Rockstar support had a list of known issues and fixes up from hour 1. If you own a high end PC so you can lord it over console users that we can play 60fps games at 4k, you should know about this and accept its not always going to be as easy as putting a disc in and playing instantly. And lastly, no, it is not on Steam/Steam servers; it clearly says this on the product description on Amazon, on Steam's site and Rockstar's site. Don't kick off if you haven't bothered reading/researching before buying. Anyway, rant over, my rig is as follows: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) cooled by Corsair Hydro H110 Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force Motherboard TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 16GB 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Vapor-X 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card ~ with the GTA V 15.4 drivers loaded… Samsung 500GB SSD Windows 8.1 64-Bit XBone controller (Around £1.3k bought last summer for those who are curious and looking to upgrade) There are two separate screens for changing the graphics settings. I've got all settings on high and ultra with the exception of MSAA which is off and running at a 4k resolution. Rockstar have implemented the same graphics card RAM usage bar as they did for GTA 4 on the PC, which is brilliant for choosing what will give you the best settings while keeping your card in the green. (Other developers should take note of this, it’s a great assistance when setting up a game). I would highly recommend installing this on an SSD especially if you want to have the max draw distance and no pop-up- the game splash screen loads up within 5-10 seconds, and the game world itself within 15-20. (I have GTA 4 on the same SSD and this still takes close to a minute to load by comparison). The game plays amazingly smooth. The quality and detail is immense, breathtakingly immense. It overshadows Watchdogs and its predecessor GTA 4 on the PC! Rockstar have done an amazing job, and the 18 month wait has been well worth it. Checking my system temps and loads and it was hardly putting a strain on it, even with high action scenes and loads going on at once. I've played the first hour of the story. The game is fluid, facial expressions are amazing as is the surround audio and again, the amount of detail has to be seen to be believed. 1st person view is good, there are a number of settings to play around with- the 10 minutes or so I put it on gives a slight sense of motion sickness, but bobbing/swaying and the such can be turned off- its great Rockstar have though of everything to suit everyone's preference. I haven't gone online yet, nor tried the video editor so I can't comment on this. That’s all I can really say for the few hours gameplay I got in- there's enough reviews out there of the game itself already that I couldn't add to. I would highly recommend this 10/10 PC port of Grand Theft Auto 5 - just make sure your rig sits between or over the min and recommended spec… and be prepared to end any relationships and quit your job… you're about to become a shut-in immersed in a fantastic game!

I'm enjoying this although It seems to be missing a lot of the spot missions from the older games eg when you steal a fire engine/ambulance/ police car you don't get the put out fire/ pick up sick people missions which is a shame. I cant shoot the dam dog all it does is crap in my yard I want to shoot it and sell the body to a take away and lastly after paying console money for this game, a 64gig installation followed by a big patch download I am quite disappointed that the only controller it recognises is the XBox one, but not the one from my XBox oh no that would be too easy so after waiting for postie to drop the game off and the installation and the patching I spent another evening trying to get my joy pad to work followed by another evening trying to get the Xbox controller to work followed by waiting a week for a Xbox Controller for windows to arrive via amazon. Couldn't RockStar invest a little time and effort and make this compatible with PC controller's? like a wheel n peddles or even just a PC joy pad. Still now I got the Xbox pad I'm having fun.
