This is a very interesting book and as it says it’s true to the industry. I’ll be recommending this to my team and colleagues. It’s nice to see a recruitment book on the market that covers selling to clients and selling to candidates. There are some very clever sections in this book especially the tips with emails to acquire your prospective clients direct contact details. I've not even seen this in generic sales books. I have a few consultants working on cold desks doing new business development, so this book will help them greatly.

7 Things I love about this book:

# 1 - The content (like a training course).
I was looking for a book for Recruitment Consultants a long time ago but could never find anything. This was the book I was waiting for and I was glad once I found it. No matter whether you are a newcomer to the recruitment industry or whether you are already an experienced recruiter, there are important lessons to be learnt from this book. When I was reading it I felt like as if I would attend a corporate training course in which I will be taught step-by-step how to become a successful (rich) recruiter. The wealth of information you can find is invaluable. It covers basically every single step in the recruitment process, it's very detailed. The focus is generally on how to sell effectively to clients as well as candidates. I thought WOW !!! finally someone who describes how it really is! Stuff that you usually don't find on the internet.

# 2 - The personal experiences that the author shared.
It’s like giving a speech. When you share stories and your personal experiences the whole message you want to convey to your audience comes across so much more memorable, interesting and invaluable. The authors illustrates a lot of real life scenarios and how to deal with them. Very useful tips!

# 3 - The price.
I bought it as a Kindle book and thought WOW! if I would have to learn the same stuff by attending a course I would have to pay hundreds or thousands of pounds/dollars for it. This came at an incredible price! Well, in-house training provided by a company if you start out like a Recruiter/Consultant would not cost anything but you have to get the job in order to get started. Someone who would like to get started in this industry would not find this kind of information on the internet for free or at this low price.

# 4 - Practical advice.
This book is anything else than theoretical. I remember from my MBA time how boring often HRM books can be, I can assure you that this book is very practical. It gives clear guidelines of steps to follow at different stages in the hiring game. You can find a wealth of questions to ask (your clients as well as candidates) in order to get the information you want. This will help you to make better decisions. Many questions that the author mentions can be used as a checklist. So, in that regard it might make more sense to buy the hardcopy version of the book to keep it handy at any time :-) Very, very useful tips!

# 5 - Real honest insights.
The author gives you real insider information for this particular industry. For example, what strategies and practices some recruitment agencies apply in order to get candidates as well as clients.

# 6 - The writing style.
The style in which the book was written was great. Easy to read, truly motivational and in a way that makes you feel as if your best friend would be sitting next to you and reveal his most important secrets on how to succeed professionally.

# 7 - It will make an instant impact.
I would consider it as a book that would be able to make you change your working style and method instantly. And as a consequence lead to more candidates, more clients and an increased salary.

How would I rate it?
I would definitely give it a 10/10 rating because I consider it the best on the market which covers “Recruitment Sales” and not “just sales" or "just recruitment” in general. I would recommend it to anyone who is planning a career in recruitment. The book will inspire you because YOU will feel so much more confident in approaching your next recruitment challenges, that you will not feel afraid of anything. It really prepares you very well for any situation that you might face with candidates as well as clients! An absolute must read!

Instead of re-inventing the wheel, replicate the successful recruiters around you and what they do, and do it better.
This book not only gave me honest, and extremely useful information, it got me fired up! Extremely motivating read, with huge amounts of detail covering wide range of topics. I feel more prepared and confident to take my company to greater heights than I did before I read this book.

I kind of want to recommend this book because it's so good, but also don't, because I don't want too many others having this great information.

It is now filled with scribbles, markings, underlinings and post-it notes that I made while reading. I was looking for a book that was true to the industry and would have all the information and tips & tricks in one place, I found that book.

Excellent read, covers all scenarios and situations. The website also provides good resources to use for your own company.

Brilliant book, extremely well written and 100% recommend.

I have been working in recruitment for close to 3 years now. I wanted to read a book which could help me with my career progression, give me some tips/advice and mainly to see if I could learn how to improve my performance thus improve my income. If I was to pick up one or 2 helpful tips reading the TRR I would have been happy. I was delighted to find more than one or 2 helpful tips, in fact, every chapter had a fresh spin on how I could work and improve my overall performance. I have built quite a successful desk in recruitment but every day you can learn something new or do something better and I found reading the TRR helped me in areas I was weak and even help me improve in areas I thought I was strong in. I really did find TRR very interesting, helpful and easy to read. I understand there will be experienced consultants out there who feel they know everything and don't need to read books like this. But if you are open minded willing to learn and have between 1 year to 10 years experience in recruitment give it a bash! Great read!

Not a very good primer for the recruiting professional and not well written to boot. He encourages a lot of unethical behaviour to no obvious end. The book takes a lot of tangents and was hard to follow.

"A powerful book indeed. I particularly enjoyed the sections on how to acquire the contact details and get through to clients who are difficult to reach. I’ve been banging my head against the wall trying to reach some clients. I also found the chapter on how to write and send targeted e-shots superb. I had to consider recommending this book, because I don’t want my competitors reading it."

I was a bit hesitant to read this book at first, but I’m glad I did. It does exactly what it says in the description. It breaks down recruitment into bite sized sections and explains each in detail. The booking isn’t theory it’s practical and it’s very clever.

Recruitment isn’t rocket science but it is a science, and while you don’t need a PhD to be a recruitment consultant you do need a strategy and a methodology to be successful. I’ve seen recruiters come and go and if it’s not because they’re being badly managed it’s because they’re struggling to fit everything together. This book, the Rich Recruiter, will help you fit everything together.

The recruitment market is changing again with candidates becoming scarce. To thrive, never mind survive, you’re going to need strong candidate sourcing and management. This book will help you in that area. We’ve had trainers come in at £1000 per head who haven’t covered all of what’s in this book, so with the Kindle edition being only £1.99 I kick myself for hesitating.

I read The Rich Recruiter as a complete layman - with no prior experience in sales or recruitment. I'm only just beginning to take some tentative steps into the world of business, and Leong's book was a revelation for me. It's impeccably structured, eminently readable, and absolutely fascinating. As someone who until now has only ever been on the other end of the recruitment business, it's a frank and honest look at a process that has depths and structures I was totally unaware of. Leong shares some tips and tricks that are absolute genius, and I genuinely do feel 'richer' for reading this book. My knowledge and awareness of the industry has grown hugely, and along with it I've picked up all manner of little gems that can be applied to business and sales in general. And the best part is that I had fun along the way.

Definitely recommended for not only anyone who's interested in recruitment, but anyone who's eager to boost sales in any field.

Dislike the fact you've basically taken 90% of the Psychology of Selling and resold it as your own work, slightly re branded for recruitment.

Great book. Would say it's more for the inexperienced recruiter as some of the techniques and knowledge in the book is pretty basic. However, was a great read and helped me touch up on some basics. As a Principal Consultant at my current company, it's handy to make sure all the basics and selling techniques get refreshed and this book is great for that. Have handed down to others in my division who are slightly less experienced than myself.
