I am a huge Artwoods fan and followed them around to many gigs in the 60's, mainly for the late, great Jon Lord's Hammond organ playing !
I have all their recordings on vinyl and all the CD versions too, but have to say this boxed set is absolutely superb, with several previously unreleased tracks and several live tracks, which really brought home to me just how great a band of musicians they were, plus the very well written booklet is also superb.
An absolute must for fans and a great introduction to those who are not yet !

This is a great box set. The packaging is well done, and the 35 page booklet is informative. The first two discs contain the original Art Gallery album and all the singles, B sides and EPs along with some live BBC sessions and other rarities. The BBC sessions are great quality and the band play well on them.

The only thing that lets the box down is the third disc. This is a live recording of such poor quality that I struggled to sit through the whole disc. It is a shame because the band are on top form, and really let loose on some tracks. The box is still great value though, hence 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion. Don't buy it just for the live set without hearing some first...

The Artwoods complete. Do i need to say more? If you don't know, this is the band in which Jon Lord made his first recordings and developed his playing style. He was great even back then. The type of music was a little different. More bluesy - less heavy. But there are some elements of Purple in it. Even more there are a lot of great songs. Some of the stuff theese guys were doing was really amazing.
