Anyone who had at least once been in New York City, even if coming from another large city, will be surprised. Good or bad, depends on you, but for the amount of energy that can be felt in this city is no wonder that New York City earned the informal name of the ‘City that Never Sleeps’.

With ‘NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette’ author and illustrator Nathan W. Pyle was able to perfectly convey the spirit of this wonderful city in a series of funny, yet extremely instructive illustrations showing how to behave in NYC not making anyone nervous and not endangering your own life.

Starting with the simplest tips such as that you can take boat for free to the Statue of Liberty, but you must pay for a tour or that you should not walk down the street as if whole sidewalk belongs to you, rather than respecting the time of others who are rushing, to those more complicated that in graphic way explain, for example, the way of using public transport - in this book reader can find a handful of very good advices.

Maybe someone will tell how many of these things anyways imply but it is incredible that on the streets of New York City without any problems you can instantly notice who is a stranger and who uses its streets or the subway daily.

The author has chosen a good approach to make his drawings in black and white technique, and only the important details highlight in color why apart from being useful makes this book nice in graphical terms.

Therefore, if you go to NYC for the first time or if you know someone else who goes, my advice is to surprise him/her with the book gift - and who knows, on the way back you might get something more than "I Love NY" T-shirt.

If you are looking for an indepth guide, this isn't for you, but if you want a few hints and tips on how to survive a trip NYC, or even if you are moving to the Big Apple, then this perfect. Humorous and well illustrated, it is full of great ways to get along in the big city, and have a good time, without annoying the locals. Highly recommended.
