Not too shabby at all. Excellent value considering the price

Can't really fault it. My HP finally broke down on me, after too much frustration with everything! I paid £70 for that heap of junk and it's not even half as good as this printer. It's actually white and grey, which I didn't really see so clearly from the picture on Amazon. It's grey on the top, above the Cannon logo, then the rest is white. Goes with my iMac a treat.
A doddle to set up. It only comes with a Windows installation disc, so that went promptly in the bin. No worries, once it was plugged in and connected with the cable, I just went into System Preferences, then printer/scan and it was already in the menu, I just had to select it, done. It's good practice to do an alignment test, with new printers and new ink, so I did that, don't worry, it takes a long time, it's not jammed or anything, just let it finish and complete the test by running a scan, it will tell you to do this on the alignment printout.
It has lots of choices, my favourite is the auto power off switch to any time you want, and I like that you can opt for the quite mode too, this is a handy feature because before I knew this, it was making me jump a little, every time the paper feed started..not cool. Anyway, now that's sorted, just bear in mind, it will print a tad slower in this mode but nothing too noticeable to bother you.
I also love the way it scans. My HP would decide to scan my papers upside down, even when it was set correctly, with this Cannon, you just put it in and it prints the correct way with no setting up.
Another feature which is just brilliant for me, is that I can choose just to use black ink only, so that when I run out, least I can do something in dark blue until the next replacement arrives. I don't know how long it lasts, so I can't give a review on that, but in the future, I will be buying the XL Twin packs from advantage. They sell premium ink at half the cost of your usual replacements, but then HP were dreadful on ink anyway, thank god that's over with!
Happy Days for me. It's not the best build quality, but what do you expect for £17 quid! A complete bargain for what you get. You won't be disappointed. My only gripe, is the way Amazon lists the added ink and cable. It says buy this ink and cable, when you purchase the printer, (in which I'm sure a lot of people need to do) so why on earth does it not come together from the same seller? How ridiculous. The seller was kind enough to notify me on this, his communication was prompt and professional. I needed it urgently and asked him to send it asap and he did, so I'm very grateful for that. However, my cable turned up nearly 10 days later from another seller, not so courteous. If I didn't have a spare....well.
Luckily for me, I had the old cable, and my ink arrived before the printer, so it worked out fine, but this is not the best way to sell a printer. I shall definitely look out for that next time, and make sure that all the parts come from the same seller.
Still, sometimes a little grief is worth it, in this case it was.
