There's something about putting a Hero on a ship which brings out the best in him. Kormak finds his sea legs, pursues a pirate, shivers many timbers and meets a strangely familiar evil beneath the waves (strangely familiar to those of us who've read his Terrach Chronicles, anyway).
Sorceres, pirates, holy men, swashbuckling, mer-women.. What are you waiting for?

One of my favourite Kormak novels so far: the locations were atmospheric and vividly brought to life, the narrative had a good pace to it: fast and gripping but never rushed, and the central characters were an interesting bunch. Those are things that can be said for pretty much all of William King's stories, but this one is especially well put together. I particularly enjoyed the sense of discovery and the unraveling of secrets in this novel.
