5.0 out of 5 stars something completely different, 11 May 2014
This review is from: LAVENDER AND HADDOCK: Part One of 'The Trouble with Wyrms' Trilogy (Kindle Edition)
It seems ages since a read a book like this. Full of fresh and utterly bizarre characters you can't help but keep reading. A brilliant way to sit back and completely escape the world. Moving onto book two straight away

I laughed my head off, i loved it, this is a really funny book, when i got this i had no idea it was based around Buxton, (the spring water) where i grew up, as i said, this is a genuine laugh out loud book.
It does come with a warning though, especially if you are a hotel waiter, beware of women in tweed!

What can I say about this book? Great fun and highly entertaining - pure comedic escapism - a world of hilarious characters and strange goings on that absolutely captivated me and had me in fits of giggles. I couldn't put the book down - so swept along was I in the whirl of weird and wonderful adventure, mystery and intrigue. Highly recommended.

A charming, funny read which is full of character and amusing imagery. The story is well written and grips you from page 1. Can't wait for the illustrated version.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Am Amused, 30 May 2014

This review is from: LAVENDER AND HADDOCK: Part One of 'The Trouble with Wyrms' Trilogy (Kindle Edition)
This is a bit of a turn up – an ebook promising humour which actually delivers. Imagine that.
The amusement level is consistent throughout a nicely told tale in which the humour is by turns observational, absurdist, scatological, and bizarre. I won’t promise you’ll sit there LOLing your heart out, but you’ll never be less than entertained.
If I’m being picky (and I am), I think the book would benefit another run through the polishing machine to buff out a few tiny imperfections here and there, but apart from that, the only other problem is that it’s the first part of a trilogy, which means that you’ll have to buy the other two to see how it all comes out. So not much of a problem, after all.
Recommended.
