This 75 track set follows on from the release of Crying in the Rain, DAY3CD031. This latest set covers recordings from 1957-1962 and includes many well known performances. The liner notes are by One Day Music regular Brian Parks. The attractive packaging includes 8 small photographs of artists included within the set. (Buddy Holly; Elvis; Cliff; Billy Fury; Sam Cooke; Roy Orbison; Fats Domino & The Everly Brothers). Excellent sound transfers and great value. Check out the One Day Music releases if you are a label collector...

Some of the stars who are lesser known to me are...(but could be big in the memory stakes for you)...

Johnny Burnette
John Joseph "Johnny" Burnette (1934 – 1964) was a rockabilly musician. Along with his older brother Dorsey Burnette and friend Paul Burlison, Burnette was a founding member of The Rock and Roll Trio. His third single, "Dreamin'"/"Cincinnati Fireball" (Liberty F-55285), released on May 4, 1960, made him famous to millions who had never heard of The Rock and Roll Trio. It reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and it reached No. 5 in Britain. Unlike his older Coral recordings, "Dreamin’" was overlaid with an orchestral backing. This can be heard on CD1/13.

Gene McDaniels
Eugene Booker McDaniels (1935– 2011), who recorded as Gene McDaniels, was an African American singer and songwriter. He had his greatest recording success in the early 1960s, and had continued success as a songwriter with songs including "Compared to What" and Roberta Flack's "Feel Like Makin' Love". In 1962 he appeared performing in the movie It's Trad, Dad!, directed by Richard Lester. He continued to have minor hit records, including "Chip Chip", "Point Of No Return" and "Spanish Lace", all in 1962, but his suave style of singing gradually became less fashionable. Listen to the track on CD1/19.

Linda Scott
Linda Scott born Linda Joy Sampson, June 1, 1945, Queens, New York is a former pop singer who was active from the late 50s to the early 70s. Her biggest hit was the 1961 million-selling single, "I've Told Every Little Star". She went on to place twelve songs on the charts over the next four years, the last being "Who’s Been Sleeping In My Bed," inspired by the film and written by the songwriting team of Hal David and Burt Bacharach. You can catch her biggest hit on CD2/15.

Dickey Lee
Royden Dickey Lipscomb (born 21 September 1936), known professionally as Dickey Lee (sometimes misspelled Dickie Lee or Dicky Lee), is a pop/country singer and songwriter, best known for the 1960s teenage tragedy songs "Patches" and "Laurie (Strange Things Happen)." "I Saw Linda Yesterday"charted in 1963 at number 14 and you can hear this on CD2/20.

Phil Phillips (born Philip Baptiste, March 14, 1926, Lake Charles, Louisiana) is a singer and songwriter, best known for his 1959 hit, "Sea of Love". "Sea of Love" went to number 2 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop chart and spent 14 weeks in the top 40, as well as reaching number 1 on the R&B chart. In 1959 it sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. Catch this memorable performance on CD3/4.

Annette
Annette Joanne Funicello (1942 – 2013) was an actress and singer. Funicello began her professional career as a child performer at the age of twelve. She rose to prominence as one of the most popular "Mouseketeers" on the original Mickey Mouse Club. As a teenager, she transitioned to a successful career as a singer with the pop singles "O Dio Mio," "Tall Paul" and "Pineapple Princess", as well as establishing herself as a film actress, popularizing the successful "Beach Party" genre alongside co-star Frankie Avalon during the mid-1960s. "Dreamin' About You" (#106)/"Strummin' Song" – Vista 388 (1961) the former song can be heard on CD3/14.
